Domain names in documentation

Posted by Michael Bloch in web development (Saturday September 1, 2007 )

Writing articles or instructions for your customers and need to use an example domain name? There is a domain set aside specifically for this purpose.

The domain name is.. drum roll please …

Pretty amazing huh? Am I the last person on the planet to know this useful tidbit? I’ve used all sorts of domain names in my tutorials and articles for examples.., etc. I had no idea this arrangement existed until a few days ago.

“”, “” and “” were reserved back in 1999 for use in documentation and will never be available for registration. So go forth and use to your heart’s content, secure in the knowledge folks won’t go to a domain name you use for examples in documentation and perhaps see something nasty.
