Blog action day reminder

Posted by Michael Bloch in online world (Thursday October 11, 2007 )

Into blogging? Care about the planet? Haven’t heard about Blog Action Day yet? Whether you blog about gadgets, grease, geese or gum; every blogger can get involved in this special event and help raise awareness about our environment!

On Blog Action Day, which is October 15th, many bloggers who don’t usually post on environmental themes will be writing on issues relating to the welfare of our planet. The aim of the day is to create massive buzz; get people talking more about and demanding a greener and better future. While there’s already nearly 10,000 bloggers representing an audience of over 7 million people signed up for the day; that’s a drop in the (steadily rising) ocean – every blog counts, whether you have an audience of 1 or 100,000

The situation facing our planet is beyond serious. Conservation scientist and Australian of the Year, Professor Tim Flannery, recently revealed information from an upcoming IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report that states atmospheric greenhouse gases exceeded levels considered dangerous….in the middle of 2005.

Even if the threat of global warming is something you’re dubious about, there’s sure to be an item related to your topic that you can put an environmental spin on. If you’d like to get involved but aren’t sure what you could actually blog about, feel free to contact me – I’d consider it a privilege to send you some ideas.
