eBay to slash fees for 150,000 merchants

Starting in October, a new status will be added to eBay’s PowerSeller program for those merchants in the US, UK and Germany who are providing excellence in service on a sustained basis.

Fees for eBay top-rated sellers will be slashed by 20% and they’ll also enjoy increased visibility in search results for fixed price listings; plus will be have a special eBay Top-Rated Seller badge displayed on their listings.

According to the company, all sellers with 100 or more annual transactions and at least $3,000 in annual sales who also meet the requirements for top-rated seller status will be invited into the PowerSeller program. The eBay Top-Rated Seller status is based on eBay’s feedback system.

eBay expects to immediately qualify 150,000 Top-Rated Sellers when the program goes live in October, well over half of which would not have previously qualified due to previous sales volume requirements.

eBay also announced yesterday enhancements including a Search Visibility tool to provide more transparency on placement in search results, a streamlined resolution process for unpaid item claims, new bulk editing tools, and an update to its Seller Dashboard.
